Provision of Advanced Clinical Reflexology techniques in combination with established stress management and health and wellbeing approaches to support individual growth and resilience in work and life.

About Me

Welcome!

I am Carole, I am a Clinical Reflexologist and Chartered Work Psychologist treating individuals at all stages of their lives, including younger and older age groups.

I take immense pride and satisfaction in supporting my clients in their health and wellness journeys providing individualised Reflexology treatments and relevant self-care advise. A treatment session with me will certainly include Reflexology, but you may also wish to develop your own self-care habits to try at home - which might include me showing you some hand reflexology, facial acupressure or relaxation techniques to support your body and mind to rebalance and restore.

I practice the Duopody ('two-handed') form of Reflexology which treats both feet simultaneously, stimulating the body’s natural healing process and restoring balance.

My level 5 Diploma in Applied Reflexology for Integrated Medicine incorporates advanced Reflexology techniques (NEPIP and CALM) which have been designed to provide support to those experiencing stress and anxiety, chronic illness, pain and receiving palliative care. I am also an approved practitioner of the award winning Sally Kay Reflexology Lymph Drainage and Sally Earlam Reflexology for Menopause techniques.

As an Applied Psychologist I have a keen interest in the mind-body connection and how our emotions and thoughts affect our health and well-being. I have a degree in Psychology and Human Biology and as well as postgraduate qualifications (PhD and MSc) in these subjects. I believe that by combining these disciplines, I can offer you a comprehensive and personalised approach to your wellness Journey.

Reflexology Experience

Reflexology is a natural and non-invasive therapy that involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the feet or hands. These points known as reflexes, correspond to different organs, systems and functions of the body. By stimulating these reflexes, reflexology can help to restore balance and harmony in the body, mind and spirit.

Reflexology can help you in many ways, such as:

Relieving tension and stress, which are often the root causes of many health problems.

De-stressing and relaxing your nervous system, which can improve your blood circulation, immune system and digestion.

Enhancing your wellbeing and vitality, by stimulating your body’s natural healing abilities and promoting self-care.

Improving your mood and emotional state, by releasing endorphins and serotonin, the natural feel-good hormones.

Aiding your sleep quality and quantity, by calming your mind and body and regulating your sleep cycle.

Discovery Call

Prior to your first appointment I would be delighted to have an initial call to provide you with information about Reflexology and to gain an outline understanding of your health and well-being and what you would like to achieve from Reflexology (e.g. improved sleep, de-stress).

It might also be that you have particular health concerns that are contra-indicated for Reflexology – if that is the case then I would be pleased to refer you on to other practitioners.

Your First Appointment

Your first Reflexology treatment with me will last (approx.) 90 minutes and will include the following steps:

We will complete a detailed health and wellbeing questionnaire together to understand your medical history, lifestyle and goals.

I will make visual and tactile observations of your feet to identify any areas of imbalance or congestion.

I will develop a bespoke Reflexology treatment plan and discuss it with you before starting the treatment. You can ask any questions or share any concerns you may have.

You will receive an approx. 50 minute treatment where I will apply gentle pressure to the reflex points on your feet using my fingers and thumbs. You may feel some sensations such as tingling, warmth, or relaxation. We will adjust the ‘depth of touch’ on your feet according to your body’s needs.

After the treatment, we will discuss the findings and your sensations. We will also consider what you might do ‘realistically’ to support your own health and well-being goals going forwards.

Follow on treatments, the standard follow-on treatment is 60-minutes.

I look forward to welcoming you to your first Reflexology treatment and helping you achieve your wellness goals.

Follow-on Reflexology treatments

Follow-on Reflexology treatments will be scheduled at an appropriate frequency that is relevant to supporting your health-related goals and with full respect to your budget and availability.

At each session I will take the time necessary to ensure that you are positioned comfortably with a selection of cushions, bolsters, pillows and weighted blankets, whatever supports you in gaining the most from your Reflexology experience!

Specialist Reflexology Techniques

The following Reflexology Techniques are only available to Level 5 practitioners who have studied at a CAREA Centre of Excellence.

Duopody

The Duopody Reflexology technique works on both feet, mostly at the same time. Duopodists use the Podycharts developed by Annie Trigg and Sue Alma Evans, published in 2021 which present x-rays of a pair of real feet overlayed with each of the 14 systems of the body (e.g. Digestive, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, MusculoSkeletal Systems).

Why Duopody?

This approach, where the (macro) systems of the body are illustrated in an anatomically correct way on to the feet (micro) supports our ability to work in partnership with other complementary therapists and health professionals (e.g. GPs, Dentists, Nurses, Physiotherapists).

NEPIP

NeuroEndoPsychoImmunoPody (NEPIP) is a unique treatment routine, exclusive to Level 5 Reflexology Practitioners and supports client concerns relating to stress and anxiety.

Why NEPIP?

It is an effective protocol for accessing the immune (our primary self-healing system), endocrine (hormones), nervous and limbic (thoughts, feelings and emotions) systems. The treatment is 30-minutes and at the start of the treatment clients are taken through a guided relaxation. The treatment also includes the setting of intentions that are relevant to the client, with a focus on rebalancing and creating harmony within our bodies – which is core to the practice of Reflexology.

CALM

Caring Attention Leading to Mollification (Author Sue Alma Evans) is a beautiful soothing technique that supports energy flow within the body. Tension in the body is seen as blockages in energy which are redistributed by applying relaxing circular movements across the feet.

Why CALM?

The technique is applied as part of a palliative care protocol to support CALM-ness and emotional easement. It is also suitable for all clients as well, particularly where stress has resulted in imbalances within the body..

*Reflexology is not a substitute for medical treatment, but a complementary therapy that can support your health and wellness.

*Reflexology does not diagnose or cure any specific illness, but rather treats the whole person as a unique individual. By working on your reflexes, reflexology can help you to achieve a state of balance and harmony in your body, mind and spirit.

Reflexology for Lymph Drainage Treatment

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the Lymphatic reflexes (specific points) on the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. RLD is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay, whilst working in Cancer care.

Reflexologists work on the assumption that the organs and systems of the body (e.g. the heart, lungs, digestive, respiratory, lymphatic and immune systems) are reflected on the feet - we refer to this as 'anatomical reflection theory'. The unique RLD sequence developed by Sally Kay reflects the principles of Lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) and Simple Lymph Drainage (MLD and SLD) and supports the flow and drainage of lymph throughout the body - from the neck, across the upper body and arms, lower body, legs, ankles and feet. RLD is performed on the feet, but can also be treated on the client's hands.

RLD was developed originally to support breast cancer patients with secondary lymphoedema. The sequence has since been adapted to support clients living with both primary and secondary lymphoedema and swelling of both the arms and legs.

I will show you selected parts of the RLD sequence (as advised by Sally Kay) for you to practice at home to support your ongoing self-care between treatments.

Lymphoedema is a chronic condition causing interstitial fluid (i.e. between the cells in our body) to build up because of blocked, damaged or absent lymph drainage channels. Primary lymphoedema is hereditary, present at birth, and may arise later in life during significant hormonal changes (e.g. puberty, pregnancy, menopause). Secondary lymphoedema may occur as a result of external factors - e.g. surgery, scar tissue, injury and insect bites.

Cancer related treatments including removal of lymph nodes, vessels and the site of the tumour, ongoing therapies, and the progression of the disease may also cause lymphoedema swelling.

The psychological, emotional and lifelong effects of symptoms may impact relationships, loss of confidence, altered body image, and ability to complete everyday tasks, employment and leisure activities. Finding a supportive regime that works for the individual is important and this may be complementary to your existing therapies (e.g. MLD, SLD).

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) (performed on parts of the body) is used to treat conditions other than Lymphoedema. Because RLD is based on the principles of MLD it may also be used similarly to support clients living with the following conditions:

Arthritis, Chronic Fatigue, Sinus problems,

Muscular tension, Asthma, Fibromyalgia,

Migraines, Aches and pains, Eczema,

ME, Headaches, Premenstrual Syndrome

At your initial 90-minute consultation we will take time to develop a RLD treatment plan that is supportive of your particular needs and expectations.

The benefits of reflexology and in particular RLD build over time and packages offering weekly, fortnightly and monthly (maintenance) sessions are available at a discounted cost - Contact.
